Motorcycle Boots-Not just for Walking but for General Purposes

There is nothing like strutting around in sleek, motorcycle boots across the asphalt towards a gleaming big bike on the curb. There are many styles and types of boots but a nice pair of motorcycle boots is the epitome of cool, and you don’t even have to ride a motorcycle to wear it. However, motorcycle boots are more than a fashion accessory for the serious bike rider. It is part of the mandated protective clothing for motorcycle riders in many developed countries. The ideal protective motorcycle riding boots have heels that fit snugly into motorcycle pegs, prevent slippage and provide good ankle support.

Having boots that fit over pants will reduce the chances of flapping cloth getting caught in any part of the motorcycle which could result in an accident. For women’s motorcycle boots, long skirts and bell bottoms are of course out of the question unless you are just modeling the boots and not actually riding the motorcycle. Ladies motorcycle boots are normally much lower than police boots and can be lace-ups or pull-on with Velcro straps. The important thing to consider when buying boots, whether for men or women, is that it should fit comfortably and be easy to pull on and take off once they are not strapped or unlaced. It should be durable, with reinforced stitching.

Police motorcycle boots are standard issue, usually between 18 to 21 inches high and looks a lot like riding boots. It has low, rubber heels with high-gloss black leather shaft and foot. It is form-fitting, designed to fit over breeches. For civilian riders, the choices are much wider. There are many manufacturers, some non branded and quite reasonably priced. However, for durability and assured protective quality, it would be best to select a pair of boots from a manufacturer with an established reputation. It may cost a little more but some can last for years, so the investment could result in considerable savings in the long run.

For style, it depends on the kind of motorcycle to be ridden. For cruisers, the engineer-type boots is commonly used while for sports bikes, the most common style are the short boots that can also be used for street wear. The rule of thumb: if it looks good and feels good, then it is just the right boot. Take time out to try different styles in stores then shop around for the style you liked best.
