Microsoft offers preview of next Windows Server release
It highlights advanced identity and access management features
AUGUST 31, 2005 (IDG NEWS SERVICE) - Microsoft Corp. yesterday made available yet another in a seemingly endless stream of interim product updates, releasing Windows Server 2003 Release Candidate Zero (RC0).
The software is a preview of technology that will be included in Release Candidate 2 (R2) of the server operating system, which is expected to be available before the end of the year, according to Microsoft.
Windows Server 2003 RC0 is available for evaluation at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/r2/default.mspx . The release highlights advanced identity and access management features that will be available in the full R2 release, according to Microsoft's Web site.
Windows Server 2003 R2 also promises better scale and performance, as well as new branch-management capabilities, Unix interoperability, and support for enhanced worker productivity through Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services, according to Microsoft.
